Avoid a Copy Buy The Genuine Article from Us
Beware Fake Ecofans
For a little while now Calfire, and Caframo the Canadian manufacturer of Ecofans™, have been aware of a Chinese company making copies of the original 2-blade 800 series Ecofans™.
Where these copies have turned up in the UK Calfire have worked with the legitimate manufacturer and their appointed UK specialist copyright lawyers to close down these supply routes.
To-date this action has been successful with offending companies paying a high price for copyright breaches.
These Chinese copies are easily recognisable as they do not have the Ecofan™ Danger warning or Caframo’s name screen printed on the top surface of the fan, having instead a silver coloured sticker giving the following information. 'Heat Powered CE stove fan WARNING HOT base hold by handle! Do not use stove fan if stove surface temp. exceeds 345°C

In addition the serial number fixed to the underside of the top casting is not a genuine Caframo reference and there are many other differences that are easily noticeable.
While the packaging on the fakes does not itself refer to either Caframo or Ecofan, it does in all other respects substantially copy the layout of the legitimate Ecofan™ product using copyright images and text.
Genuine Ecofans ™ enjoy a full 12 month warranty honoured in the UK by ourselves. We also offer a full refurbishment service to UK customers so once the warranty period has expired Ecofans™ can be refurbished by us at very reasonable rates.
Sellers of fake Ecofans may be offering to match, or better this warranty period, but in reality these promises are of no value as they may well have disappeared by the time units start to fail. In these circumstances the fakes will be worthless and any small savings achieved by having bought one will seem to have been a high price to pay. Any fake fans being returned to us will be set aside and only returned on the payment of a fee for our time in doing so coupled with the return carrier costs. Needless to say we will not be prepared to carry out any repair work to them.
Currently action is on-going with several companies, some of whom are trading on EBay, and others who are offering units to our official stockists and other trade outlets.
Some EBay sellers are describing these units as 'Ecofan 800 New 2011 Stove Wood Burning Fans' although the packaging we have seen does not itself refer to either Caframo or Ecofan, it does in all other respects substantially copy the layout of the legitimate Ecofan™ product using copyright images and text.
Other sellers are referring to these units as just 'Heat Powered Stove Fans' or 'SmartFan - Heat Powered Stove Fans' with the packaging we have seen so far being identical to the above.
We can assure you that we take this situation extremely seriously and will do everything necessary to rid the UK of these fakes and protect the marketplace for the benefits of all parties concerned
